Amen. With all the talk of immigrant rights and how to handle the flood of illegals in this country the fine people of Herndon have done something about it. They’ve voted for a law that makes it illegal to hang out in parking lots waiting for work. They made it damn clear that they want a town that they feel safe in, and one that they can be proud of. It may not be much, but it is a start.

Giving illegals a place to hang out and wait for work is like a teenage boy telling his girlfriend that he only wants to put the tip in. And that won’t really count as them going all the way.

Getting the tip in is his first step to full penetration. Giving illegals a place to hustle jobs is just the first step in giving them a legitimate status in the community.

I’m not really heartless about this folks. There are some good people in this country that broke into it. They may be willing to do the jobs that you and I are not. They may be willing to work for a couple of dollars a hour. But that does not make it right to let them come in and then stay here.

We have to protect the rights of the CITIZENS of this nation first and foremost. When people break into our country they begin immediately to see the benefits that you and I work hard to have. Taking something without paying for it is stealing. And when illegals use our roads, our schools, our hospitals, and our public works they are stealing from the rest of us. To include the immigrants that have come here legally and are doing the right things to become American citizens.

I really do feel like this is something that all the states should be moving on. It’s pretty clear that the Congress is too wrapped up in political games to do anything about it. With all the pent up frustrations in the nation something needs to be done quickly. This thing has the potential to make the race riots of the 1960s look tame in comparison.

Listen very carefully to what I said. Immigrants to this nation that want to come here under legal means and become productive members of OUR society should be made to feel welcome in the US of A. The people that break the law to be here should be rounded up, put in the back of a truck and shipped back home. Or better yet, send them to some other country.

If Iran gets out of hand we could just do a fly over and drop two or three thousand illegals on them. Let them figure out how to deal with the extra people in the system.

And that’s how I really feel about that.

This is probably the best news I’ve seen since we moved here. Housing prices are starting to stabilize. The market is still strong but now sellers are having to work a little more to get the deal done. That’s good news for those of us that are still trying to find the right schools and best neighborhoods to raise our kids. Although I kind of doubt all those people that bought interest only loans two or three years ago are real happy about it. They will face some pretty rough times when it is time to roll over to the conventional part of the loan.

Speaking of sellers and prices going down, how bad did Major League Baseball miss the boat with the Nationals? They could have gotten top dollar plus ten percent last year when the team and city were both on fire. Now the Post is reporting for the umpteenth time that the Lerners are going to be the new owners by the end of the week. If MLB were to call me today about owning the team I’d try to haggle the price down before I committed. After all, who wants to buy a team that’s won only one of its last nine?

And it seems that Immigrant Day was a bigger event in other parts of the country than it was here. Granted there were some construction crews that didn’t show for work yesterday, and maybe a handful of places shut down but that was about it here in town. The demonstrators on the National Mall were in pretty short supply too. This is only the start of a movement that is going to last for a couple of more generations, but the leaders are going to have to do better than yesterday if they are going to have a impact right now.

I wonder if there is a link between the number of people that rallied yesterday in California and the high rate of car theft in that state? Or am I a racist for even thinking that?

There’s something to be said for not having to worry about your poll numbers. W has always been at his best when he was in ‘screw you’ mode and talking from the hip. I really think that’s why Americans liked him so much better than Gore or Kerry when it came time to vote. And for all the talk of how bad he sucks, I think the country would elect him a third time if it could. He just reminds us too much of ourselves not to like him.

Hell, almost everyone I talk to these days wants to kick some border-crosser’s ass. Now that they’ve decided that English is not how they want to sing the fuck’n National Anthem, there’s not a redneck worthy of the name that’s not ready to go hunting. Bad enough that crack-ho Whitney had to lip sync it.

W, The President, has told them to shut the hell up and sing it right. Check this out:

“I think the national anthem ought to be sung in English, and I think people who want to be a citizen of this country ought to learn English and they ought to learn to sing the national anthem in English.”

The President may not be good at a lot of things, like keeping down the price of gas, but there is one thing he does really well. That’s kick ass.
