Kinder and Gentler. Yeah, Right.

This One Was Obvious

The Post has a really good article today on the dangers of kids wearing Heelys.  Those are the sneakers with wheels built into the heels.  And they are definitely a danger to the kids that wear them.

Not for the reasons that the Posts lists, but because the next time I’m in a store trying to spend money like a good consumer and get hit in the back by a midget on wheels - I’m breaking the midget in half.  That’s not a threat, just a promise.  So if you see a crabby old white guy on the news this week, being carted off to jail for breaking a kids’ ankles at the mall, you’ll know that it was me.

Late Again

I can’t believe that I’m just now getting around to seeing the new Silver Surfer movie, starring Jessica Alba.  Cause we all know how I feel about Jessica Alba.

THE BOY and SDFM are going with, so it’ll be a good time for all.  And for the record, SDFM now has a BF that’s “not that serious”.  But when asked how serious “not that serious” really is she blushes and tries to divert the conversation.  I know that’s girl code for something, but I’m not sure what.

Father’s Day

The best gift yesterday was the two hours that I had the house to myself.  Not really, but that was nice.

I did get a branding iron with my initials on it, which was way cool.  THE WOMAN explained to me that it was not intended as a punishment for the kids, but is used for branding steaks.  A bit of a let down.

The big thing is that all of the kids thought of me, and that was enough.  At my age I don’t want any more “stuff” on holidays.  I’ve boxes full of “stuff” in the crawl space below the house that won’t see the light of day until we move again.  Why add to it?

Memorial Day Hangover

It’s a good thing that I got an extra day off this Memorial Day weekend.  I don’t think I could have made it in today.

THE WOMAN and I had our first cook out at the new place this past Sunday.  Of course just as the guests started to arrive the fucking bottom fell out of the sky.  Thankfully we only had a few couples (and all of their kids) over so we had room for everyone inside.  I cooked the steaks, veggies, dogs, and other stuff in the downpour.  But that was cool because I had my golf umbrella and that at least kept the meat dry.

We went thru a ton of beer and scotch.  Well, at least a ton for old married people that had to go home at the end of the night.  All in all it was a good night.  But I paid for it the next morning.

The neighbors in the cove had a group cook out yesterday too.  But it was no fun for us.  Everyone else there have been friends for years so we were left out of most of the conversations and in-jokes.  Plus, the guy doing the cooking burned the shit out of the burgers and dogs.  The beer was all that cheap Bud and Miller crap, plus some funky assed wine coolers.  We have got to raise the standards around here.
