I was out by Fort Myer yesterday grabbing lunch with some of the gang from the office when there was a strange sound in the sky. It was a jet but clearly not the normal sound jet engines make. Not normally a conspiracy nut, my first thought was still that this might be part of another attack. After all I was fairly close to the Pentagon and it’s not like we’re that far away from the anniversary of 9/11.

But no, nothing that drastic. It was only a B117 flying over at a very, very low altitude. Like maybe 500 feet off the ground. Naturally I didn’t have my camera phone ready so I couldn’t get a fresh shot. I’m a dork and an ill-prepared one at that.

I do wonder if the threat alert is higher right now than we are being told because of the upcoming anniversary. Or if what I saw yesterday was a show of force of some kind to remind the bad guys just who we are. But maybe the pilot was just tired of fucking with Beltway traffic.
