Kinder and Gentler. Yeah, Right.

Late Again

I can’t believe that I’m just now getting around to seeing the new Silver Surfer movie, starring Jessica Alba.  Cause we all know how I feel about Jessica Alba.

THE BOY and SDFM are going with, so it’ll be a good time for all.  And for the record, SDFM now has a BF that’s “not that serious”.  But when asked how serious “not that serious” really is she blushes and tries to divert the conversation.  I know that’s girl code for something, but I’m not sure what.

Father’s Day

The best gift yesterday was the two hours that I had the house to myself.  Not really, but that was nice.

I did get a branding iron with my initials on it, which was way cool.  THE WOMAN explained to me that it was not intended as a punishment for the kids, but is used for branding steaks.  A bit of a let down.

The big thing is that all of the kids thought of me, and that was enough.  At my age I don’t want any more “stuff” on holidays.  I’ve boxes full of “stuff” in the crawl space below the house that won’t see the light of day until we move again.  Why add to it?

Personal Note

Yesterday THE WOMAN and I celebrated three years of mostly wedded bliss.  Like an idiot I took the easy way out and bought her a nice necklace.  It was a single black pearl pendant with a smattering of diamonds around it.

THE WOMAN on the other hand did her research and discovered that the traditional gift this year is something leather.  Let’s just say that her gift to me is far more unique than a necklace and leave it at that.

Just a Thought

I once was told that religion and politics are supposed to be separate in this country.  Then I found out that the two only mingle when a politician needs them to.  Which makes me wonder why the God card is being played so early from the Democrats.  Do the Republicans really still own the market on Jesus?  Or is that the ghost of Reagan they are kneeling in front of?  Or is the current slate of Democratic front runners so full of slimy characters that we have to remind ourselves that even the worst of us still believe in Devine Redemption?
