And how do I know that? Because the folks at Dick's Sporting Goods keep sending me e-mails that tell me so.
Regular readers know of my affection for the game of golf. If I didn't have to fund my golf habit I'd quit work and start drinking for a living. That's how important golf is in my life. If THE WOMAN wasn't a golf fan I'd never have dated her. And I damn sure wouldn't have married her if she hadn't agreed in the3 pre-nup to paying her own green fees.
All of that to say this. GOLF IS BACK IN DC!!!! The PGA really fucked over the district when they yanked the Booz-Allen out of the early part of the season and stuck it literally behind the final event in the FedEx cup. That killed any chance to get a quality field, decent weather, or a solid corporate sponsor. I'm not a fan of the robot golfer named Tiger, but since he's the force behind our new July tourney I'll put that aside. For now.
This area has too many great courses to not have a first rate tournament. Now we'll get one. Tiger may not make his first appearance here this summer since his wife is due to produce Tiger II about the same time. But he'll be here next year and that means well see Phil and the rest of the top tier too. If this town was willing to support a marginal field with 35,000 per day attendance, can you imagine how hard it's going to be to get tickets to see real golfers?
This rocks!
