TC the Terrible

Far be it from me to criticize, but maybe if Daddy were doing a better job with Mommy’s box she wouldn’t need to go trolling on the other side of the tracks.  I’m just sayin’.

I've been pretty poor about acknowledging a pretty big event and I need to make amends.

My best friend since childhood always wanted to grow up and be a doctor.  I know this because he was always playing doctor with his cousin (yes it was a girl cousin) when we were growing up.  I also know this because he majored in pre-med during his first run at college.  When the funds for college ran out he joined the Army as a way of getting more money.  Then after he was discharged he went back to school, finished his pre-med work, and trucked off to medical school.

Before he could finish his father got sick and Scott dropped out to help care for him.  One thing led to another and before he knew it, Scott was doing great things in the IT world.  Still he wanted to be a doctor and he was not getting any younger.  So this year my buddy did what all of claim we would if we got the chance.  He gave up the corporate world to chase his dream.

He shipped out to a medical school on St. Kitt the first week of 2007.  By the time he actually gets to hang a shingle that says DOCTOR behind his name he'll be 50 years old.  I can not begin to explain how proud I am of him.  We all talk shit about what we would do if we were rich, or how we would change our lives if we could.  He's out there doing it while the rest of us are flying keyboards and hating the doldrums of our lives.
