Frustrating Friday
Man, this is shaping up to be one of those days. Two of the guys that I work with (one from the last job, one from this one) are both leaving and today was their going away luncheon(s). At the same time, but in different parts of town. No way to get to one and still catch a part of the other. But not to worry, I had a meeting pop up today that I couldn't skip out on. Three different places at the same time is a bit of a stretch even for a guy like me.
My real frustration is with NASCAR. I don't get the appeal of "go fast — turn left" for 400+ miles. It's one of the few Southern things in the world that I don't like. In fact I like mosquitoes and boll weevils more than I like NASCAR. Feel me? Our company is a major sponsor of NASCAR and today they are "revealing" our new car and driver. In the past two weeks the head office has sent nearly 40 separate e-mails reminding us about the event. They have renamed our cafeteria the "Hot Rod Cafe'" and this morning announced an entire menu of specials dedicated to NASCAR. The funny part of that being they are nothing but the regular Friday specials with new names, but still the same prices as last Friday. Divisions have been adjusting meeting schedules all week so that everyone can be there when they lift the cover off the car. So of course since we have Monday off they parked the damned car right in front of the building. Now there's no way to sneak out a couple of hours early.
You just gotta love it.
