TC the Terrible

Even if a guy managed to get this gadget to work, can you imagine how many batteries it would eat in a day? Yeah, the thought scares me too.

It's the last day of the year the boss is going to get any work out of us so of course he's got to manufacture an emergency or two before lunch.  That's ok since I've got an extra day off next week that I hadn't been banking on.

• My buddy Todd (in Tulsa) sent me a link about Ford and Microsoft partnering up for a new on-board computer system.  While the thought of a missing/bad .dll file screwing with my gas mileage that's not the biggest reason I'm against this.  I'm one of those old school guys that thinks a car should be simple to drive and simple to work on.  This is just another toy that's going to distract drivers from the task at hand (driving) leading to more wrecks.  And it's another component that will need to be fixed and cost more money to keep the car on the road.  About the only options a car really needs is a good radio and an air conditioner.  Anything more than that is just showing off.  Besides, I don't see any feature listed that can't be covered with a map and cell phone.
• Poor kids tend to be fat.  Maybe that's because people who are not sure when their next meal will come tend to eat more when the opportunity is there to do so. Or could it be that poor people just don't give as big of a shit about their kids as rich people do?  After all, rich people are better at everything else in life so maybe they are better parents too.
• A lot of people at the Apollo great stories about James Brown and his impact on the American culture.  Me, all I've got is this.  James Brown was in prison for running from the cops in South Carolina when I was doing basic training there.  The drill sergeants changed all of our marching cadences when the news hit.  The irony of finishing up a 12 mile force march in full gear singing " I Feel Good" is still with me.  As is the look on the commander's face when he called our platoon to attention and instead of responding with "YES SIR" we answered back with "FREE JAMES BROWN."  That was a priceless moment.
• It only costs $135 to party with Tera Reid on New Year's.  Which makes me wonder which car on the "lovin' train" you'll be at that price. 
• Cloned pork won't be any worse for you than natural pork, at least according to the FDA.  I'm thinking that places like Whole Foods are going to make a killing offering "free-range-non-cloned-hormone-free" meats.

That's enough rambling for now.  Time to get some work done.
