What else did you expect with a space shuttle named Atlantis but a landing delayed by UFOs? I guess all those little green men we’ve been hearing about for years are finally tired of us dumping the trash in their collective backyards.

I’ve been saying this since last year, Brunell is washed up. He’s too slow and his arm isn’t what it was in Jacksonville for him to be a viable starting quarterback in today’s NFL. Last year was a fluke, nothing more.
Thanks to killing off any faith that Patrick Ramsey had in himself, or that the team had in him, Coach Gibbs has screwed the team. The fans have right to be mad at the Hall of Fame coach right now. He could have used Ramsey last year to build a vertical attack and make openings for Clinton Portis to run the ball. Instead he built a team around a weakening arm and aging legs that could win because the defense kept things close late in the game.
With no wins this year, and no real points on the board, it’s time to end this crap and move on. But don’t move on by giving Jason Campbell the ball just yet. Gibbs needs to use Todd Collins for the next few weeks as a transitional quarterback. Saying that Brunell is the only option or that he will get better with Portis in the backfield is only cheating the fans that buy tickets.
The time to bench Brunell is now. Gibbs yanked Ramsey after one hit last year. It’s time to do it again. Before the ‘Skins become the first team this year to lose to the Texans.
It’s funny how jaded I’ve become in the past two years. I’ve blogged a lot in the past about how cool it is to have been raised in Bum-fuck, Arkansas (population 3000) to now have an office that looks out onto the dome of the Capitol building. But last night on the way to the reception dinner THE WOMAN and I drove down Constitution Avenue. At one of the stop lights she pointed out that we were two blocks past the White House and neither of us had noticed.
Maybe it’s time for us to take a couple of days off and go site-seeing. Just to remind ourselves of why we moved here and how great a city it really is.
