TC the Terrible

I’ve got an idea for the next season of Survivor on CBS; have the contestants drawn from nations that are at war with each other.  Stash weapons around the island and let them fight it out to see which side deserves to win their real war.  It would be more interesting than the current race based contest.  We get enough racial crap thrown in our faces every day.  Watching it on a staged reality show isn’t going to teach us something we don’t already know. 

We all have racial prejudices ingrained on some level, that’s been proven over and over.  Most of us are smart enough to know that and to be able to deal with it.  Why put it on network television?  Maybe because Survivor ratings are worse than those for professional wrestling?  And we all know that playing the race card is the sure way to get people to watch.  That’s why shows like House, Two and a Half Men, CSI, and Law & Order SVU tend to do so well in the ratings each week.  Those shows always make racial tensions the focal point of the show.  Right?

No, they are shows that actually have something to say, believable (sort of) plots, and characters that people can connect with.  It’s this thing called quality.  Sometimes it takes a while, but people always come back to things that have substance and quality.  Shock tactics are great in spurts, but given a choice over the long haul quality wins hands down.  With any luck, this season of Survivor will signal the end of the reality show.

This is shaping up to be another great day in the making.  In my haste to get MOM to the airport I walked out of the house without my glasses and iPod.  Thus I will be both blind and bored at the office today.  Oh yeah, my watch died this morning too.

• At what point does Michelle Wie realize that she needs to learn how to win before she tries to break onto the men’s circuit? 
• Ford employees need to take the buyout and suck up all the ‘job training’ they can get.  Then thank their union bosses for playing politics with their jobs all these years.
• The House is being pesky again, voting yesterday to fund a fence along the Mexican border. Not a bad idea overall, but how much is it going to cost us to keep the electricity running on it?  And who pulls off all those dead illegals that get stuck?
• A lot of poor kids in the South won’t have Christmas this year.  THE CORPORATE SATAN is dumping their lay-a-way program.  Now all the welfare moms won’t be able to make ‘monthlies’ on the Santa Claus gifts for the kiddies.  All of those baby daddies gonna have to make some support payments now.
• "We are blowing away the fog of anonymity."  Yeah, right.  The House couldn’t stop themselves yesterday it seems.  If the idea of making Congressmen put their name on earmark funding makes it to the floor of the Senate expect it to go down in flames.  But why should it?  We elect these goons and goof balls to get funding for the places we live in.  They need to be able to take the credit for it when they try.
• Did you know that it is a crime to use a convenience store’s microwave oven to warm up urine in a fake penis on the way to take a drug test?  Me either, but at least it is a creative crime.
• As opposed to just putting your four year old out on the side of the Beltway in the middle of the night.  Which you can do, be found guilty, and still walk out of court a free bitch.  Somebody needs to be shot over this.  Can we start with the judge and work down from there?

One down and one to go.  MOTHER-IN-LAW leaves in the morning.  Please God let it come soon.  Our house is in bad need of getting back to normal.
