Damn, I forgot to do my usual shtick of crappy comments on news stories this morning.  Must be the whole back to school thing going on at our house today.  THE WOMAN will be doing her version of the happy dance (don’t ask) all day as she will now have the house to herself again.  I think the head of the DC schools is right. Just make the kids go to school all damned year.  It makes life easier on all of us and might just increase the math scores.

• I missed the Jerry Lewis schlock fest again this year.  It used to be a tradition among us backwoods kids to see who could stay up for the most hours of it.  Of course that was back when all TVs were black and white only.
• I have no problem with teenagers hanging out naked at the local malt shop.  It’s when the nursing home residents decide to do it that the police should get involved.
• Steve Irwin pulled the barb out of his chest while under water?  Now that’s a man that the Duke could be proud of.
• Tonight is the big night for ‘Katie and Co.‘ over on CBS.  I won’t be watching but I bet millions tune in and are disappointed that even with all the hype it is still the evening news.
• Less than one week from now the Skins will finally try to win a game that counts.  All we know right now about the team is that the old man will be the starter at quarterback.  If he gets broken during a game, Collins replaces him.  If he gets broken during practice, the other guy replaces him.  Sounds like a system for success to me.  NOT.
• At least our guys won’t have the same amount of suck as the J-E-T-S.  I hope.
• Didn’t we see this in a movie once?  Kids, stealing the ATM is not only hard to do, but it is also not very smart.

That should do it for now.  My boss is out of the office for the bulk of the day so I’ve got the chance to catch up on my paper(s) for school. 

One last note about the weekend, well actually two.  The first is that THE WOMAN and I headed out of the house Saturday with the kids in tow to pick up some jeans for THE BOY and SDSM.  We ended up with that plus a new bookshelf and a new living room set.  I’ve really got to get a handle on my impulse spending. 

The second thing is that while we were at the American Museum of Natural History I ran into an old Army buddy that I hadn’t seen since 2002.  We happened to be passing in a hallway on Sunday and it was really ironic because the last time we saw each other was on a Sunday morning in a hallway at Ft. Bragg, NC.
