Yesterday I posted about a death, today about a new life. The NEW GUY called in the middle of the night to tell me that his wife had gone into labor. Less than an hour later their new son came screaming into the world. All is good with mother and son. NEW GUY will be out of the office for a few days so I’m picking up the projects I’d dumped on him.
Time to hit the gym. I’ll have more after lunch.
A few weeks back, I blogged about how the current war is not hitting home for the nation. I guess I should have kept my mouth shut.
The brother of a good friend of ours was killed over the weekend in Iraq. I never met him, or am even sure of what branch of the service he was in. Still, when she told us yesterday it hit me like a ton of bricks.
Maybe John Donne was right:

of thine own were: any man’s death diminishes

tolls; it tolls for thee.”
It definitely makes me think that we can’t quit what we have started now. If anything it only convinces me more that we have to see this thing through until the situation is fixed.
After we were done scaring the crap out of THE BOY at King’s Dominion we headed down to the Great Wolf Lodge. This is the place that claims to have the world’s larges indoor water park. It is pretty damn big, and a good way to finish off a weekend with the family. And of course they have their share of idiots staying there. Why else would they need a sign like this one ten feet from the nearest water?!?!?
They did have a ton of Yankees staying there, so maybe that’s the reason behind the sign. We had lunch at the Sonic next door to the hotel and watched three groups of Northerns trying to figure out how to order food on the speaker system.
