I’m out of reach for the rest of the day.  Yeah, I know that breaks your pea-picking heart.  Our office is having one of those ‘mandatory fun days’ that government agencies are so famous for.  This one has the potential to be pretty good, once we get there.  (It’s about two hours down to the site of our ‘fun day’ at King’s Dominion.)

Still, since I know that about three of you will have no life unless I post some thing, here are your talking points for the day.

• Kids in THE OLD COUNTRY must be watched like hawks if you want to have a place to live.  Or at least made to shoot off all their bottle rockets on July 4^th like normal people.  Besides, aren’t fireworks illegal in Memphis?
  
  
• When it is a he said/she said type of thing it’s going to be hard to get a conviction.  At least when you are dealing with the Navy and a star quarterback.  It’s good to see that a guy can get a fair hearing in a rape case when the evidence is shaky, at best.  Her reputation as a party girl aside, if the defendant doesn’t remember saying ‘no’ maybe she’s not the best witness to take the stand.
  
  
• The British Open had a great first day with good old Tigger charging back out front.  It’ll help Nike if he can pull this off, but golf would be better served if it was at least close going into the closing holes on Sunday with Phil and a couple of others in the mix.
  
  
• You have to wonder if the guy in Los Angeles suing the sperm bank would buy the video if the things were going the other way.  I mean if the tape were of a woman masturbating would he be plugging his credit card number into the porno site to order it right now?
  
  
• Katie Couric got the job and the prestige that goes with it, but none of the really hard work.  Boy, that didn’t take very long to happen did it?
  
  
• Barry Bonds is going to jail one way or another, even if the Feds have to have a new grand jury.
  
  
• Clerks was cool because it was new and different.  Now it’s just going to be 12 years older and in color.  The only real question is why are Matt and Ben not pulling cameos?  Sure to God one of them needed a pack of smokes while it was being shot.  I may not go see it, but I will rent it.
