The world is a hard place to be. It's harder if you're stupid.

THE WOMAN is still out of town so my curfew was extended by a couple of hours and I made full use them.  One of my gal pals from the old country (Memphis) is in town this week.  She’s out here doing the tourist thing, but trying to have some class about it.  She’s lived in the big city before (Chicago) so it’s not like she has to stop in the middle of the street to stare up at the tall buildings in amazement.  I met up with her and her mom for dinner last night and had a rocking good time.  It’s always fun when your buddy’s parents are as cool as your buddy.

Now that the sun is back out I really feel like saying ‘screw the basement’ and getting out and having some fun.  Not too likely that’s going to happen though.  Which is one of those things that gets forgotten when the television cameras move off to their next disaster or crisis.  I imagine that I’m going to have to spend the bulk of my weekend dealing with insurance claims and smelly carpet.  Oh well.

The series of meetings that I was brokering this week are over which is good.  Now I have to type up three days worth of notes based on my chicken scratch hand writing.  That’s not good.

I love it when my stuff gets picked up by the Express. Granted it always seems to be on one of the days that I drive into work when it happens and I have to find out fourth hand. Still, it is nice to be noticed. And nicer still when my quip about a sump pump dying gets placed next to a picture of Star Jones and her new skinny self.

Pumped out.
Star’s probably a great girl and all that shit, or at least what’s left of her is. But what does it say about your career when you get a Hollywood body only to be fired and replaced by the ever fatter, ever dyker Rosie O’Donnell? What it says it to be true to your fat self and let the rest of the world adapt to you.

Today is the last day of this series of VIP meetings, at least for this quarter.  It will be nice to get back to a less hectic pace for a few weeks.  Working with this group is fun, but three days is enough for anyone.

Hard to believe that the sun came out today.  I was begining to think that I had moved to the other Washington.  Of course because the rain stops doesn’t mean the dam is safe.  That has got to suck for the folks in Maryland.  First they spend days bailing water out of their basements, then they get shipped to a high shcool because the water may be about to break into the second floor.

THE WOMAN and the little two (aka SDSM and THE BOY) are headed out to Ocean City, MD today.  They deserve a few days of peace and quite at the beach.  I’ve got to stay here and work, but that’s cool because a friend of ours from back in Memphis is out here on summer vacation.  I’ll be meeting up with her and her brood tonight for drinks.

Later.
