Is there any bigger news today than the killing of Abu Musab al-Zarqawi by American troops? Well hell no.
This is big time good stuff. It’s good for the Commander-in-Chief and his staff because they have been promising to get revenge for 9/11 for long enough now. It’s good for the people in Iraq because al-Zarqawi has been the brain child of the insurgency groups causing most of the hell in that nation. It’s good for our forces on the ground because now they can take down more of the insurgent infrastructure before a new leader can step forward. It’s good for the nation because we are a results oriented culture and this shows Joe Citizen that our efforts are not in vain.
Abu Musab al-Zarqawi was a very bad man and the world is better off without him.
G.W. is right when he says we should be proud of the troops that were involved in this mission. And we should be proud of all the guys and gals that have upheld the oath they took to serve and honor our nation. We should also be adamantly pissed when one of those soldiers decides to refuse a direct and lawful order.
I read the story of Lt. Ehren Watada today and it basically boils down to the fact that he joined the Army to fight against terrorists and now he doesn’t want to. And since he’s changed his mind he’s going to break the law. Maybe he’s just a lousy ass officer that is scared of not being able to do his job. But we’ll never know because he never once makes his case on his own website. All he does there is announce his plans and asks for your money. Sort of like a television evangelist. Or maybe his parents never taught him that men honor their word when they give it.
I’ve got more for later, but we’ll get to it then.
