TC the Terrible

This is the kind of shit that happens when you let government wonk run the world. Alaska gets a bridge that goes no fucking where while some damn bean counter tries to put the skids on a much needed rail line. With all due apologies to AlaskaMike I can’t understand why the hell Alaska would need a $200 million bridge.

DC needs more rail lines, and they need to be underground for a lot of very good reasons. If they need a bridge so bad then Representative Don Young should start selling Amway to pay for it.

Damnit.

The Metro has got to be one of my favorite parts of DC. Well that and the crack whores of Anacostia.

As much as I enjoy it, there is a gaping problem with how Metro was designed. No, it’s not the fact that they don’t discriminate against fat tourists and their screaming yard monkeys. The biggest problem is that there is only one line into NOVA. The planners should have tried harder to run a line through Tyson’s in the early days when it would have been easier. But they also screwed up by not taking the Orange line deep enough into Fairfax County.

I guess that you can’t fault the Metro planners for not having a perfect crystal ball. Now that the Tyson’s route has gotten traction again it might be time to revisit Metro’s base plan for Virginia. The planners need to look at how NOVA has grown and begin to lay the foundation for a bigger Metro footprint. A ‘mauve line’ that parallels I-95 would be a smart venture to look into.

That and charging a premium on fat tourists and their screaming kids.

The long weekend was good for me. I got some much needed rest and home cooking courtesy of my mom. I got to see the eldest child (FDFM) graduate college and catch up with an old friend of the family. Yes Freak this is the one that should have gone to stAte, but chose to be a Purple Bear instead. Of course I missed a pretty big moment back at the homestead. THE BOY played first base for his team Saturday morning and got a game ball for his efforts. He blasted me pretty hard on the phone for not being there to see it.

One day this week Barry BALCO Bonds is going to tie the Babe for home runs. All I have to say is that if MLB let’s that happen without putting one large ass footnote by his name, then they need to let Pete Rose into the Hall of Fame. And they don’t need to wait a single minute to do it. The very second that Bonds crosses home plate to move ahead of Ruth on the list they should stop play at every ball park and show Pete Rose pulling the cover off of his plaque.

That’s all I have to say about that.
