I have now succeeded beyond my wildest dreams. This morning I moved into the corner cubical. The one with a view of the Capital Dome. Life is now officially good.
For a guy that grew up in the Arkansas outback this is quite a feat. I may just sit here and soak it in for a few days.
In other news, it seems that mornings are going to be less chipper now. Katie Couric is taking her serious side to the CBS Evening news. Not that this is coming as a big shock to anyone. After all, 15 years of getting up at the ass-crack of dawn has got to be draining. It’s even more so when you not only have to get up that early but you also have to be bright and perky enough to make people love you. Talk about a job that I would suck at, there it is.
Hockey is dead. Thanks for the news flash there Tony K. No wonder ESPN wanted you for Monday Night Football so badly. Your ability to understand the world faster than the rest of us is astonishing. </sarcasm> Yeah hockey really is dead. The sport deserves what it got though. They were greedy, expanded into too many markets too fast, and then killed the quality of the game. The owners should look into contracting the league by about 35% and focusing on the towns that they can turn a profit in.
The Post continues to get the immigration issues wrong, today using Fareed Zakaria to miss the point. It’s not that the current system of earning citizenship is flawed; it is that the illegal immigrants are not using that system. If they were, then they wouldn’t be illegals and we would not be having this debate. Yes, America does have a good system to get your citizenship. But we also have a better system to get into the country (and enjoy the benefits) for free. That is the where the problem has to be addressed. Build fences, spread land mines, put them on a truck and send them back; but do something to get rid of the people that don’t want to use the system the right way.
That’s enough for now. Time to go enjoy my new view. Again.
