Yesterday we were talking fences, today we are talking armed guards. At least the governor of Arizona is doing something about all the Mexicans crawling across her border. I think this just highlights how big of a problem the United States has on its collective hands. Illegal immigration is not something we can fix with a fence or with the National Guard alone. We need to crack down hard on the people that hire the illegals if we want to squash the problem. Make it too risky and expensive to hire them and you’ll eventually see a decrease in the numbers crossing the border. Too easy.
Now that the NFL has decided to share the wealth, with the players and each other, maybe the Redskins can finally share some with our boy Patrick Ramsey. He’s out there shopping himself for a new home this week, and with any luck he can find one soon. Of the places he’s scheduled to be, the Lions would be the most fun to watch. Ramsey is mentally tough, with gun-slinger attitude and a strong arm. Mike Martz could turn him into the next big thing in the NFL.
Kids amaze me. How the heck could they think that they have a right to privacy about the parts of their lives they are posting on the Internet? It may be called MySpace, but it really belongs to whoever finds it. And yes, many of us parents are smart enough to find our kids personal pages and screen names. Even in a high tech age, the best way to keep something private is to not share it with anyone. Again, too easy.
And lastly for today, the Sopranos are back. The show is either going to blow you away, or suck worse than the American Idol outtakes. I’m hoping for the former, but can’t make myself believe that it is really going to happen. The last season had enough slow spots to make me wonder if the cast and crew have the energy to pull this off.
That’s it for today. I’ve got stuff to do.
Back with more tomorrow.
