Boy, did Joe Gibbs ever send a message to Patrick Ramsey yesterday.  The clear message is that despite being Old Man Brunell’s hunting buddy, young Patrick will have to learn a new zip code next season.

Compare his comments on Ramsey to the ones he made about Jason Campbell.

On Ramsey he said:

“Patrick and I had a good talk and he felt a little bit like I did. Hey, the season’s just over with and he hasn’t had much chance to sit and think about anything and I haven’t, either. So what we agreed to do is just continue to talk over these next few weeks.”

His comments about Campbell were:

“I feel confident had Jason been thrust into things this year, I think he would have played and played well,” Gibbs said. “We’ve seen a lot out of him, and now he needs to play. I was laughing when I told him, ‘Okay, take the hat off and throw it away; you’re ready to go to work to earn your money.’ “

It is clear that Ramsey will be with the Jets, Dolphins, or Cardinals next season.  During his tenure with the Redskins Ramsey proved that he was a quality person who could be a starting quarterback in the NFL if he had a coach that trusted him and it’s a shame that he didn’t get the chance to prove it in DC.
