All good things must come to an end, and the Redskins season is no exception.  If we could all be honest for a minute, even the biggest Redskins backer could admit that this team went at least one game further than it should have this year.  To think that they would be able to sneak a win out of Seattle was wishful thinking at its best.

The best player in the entire league goes out on the first series and your defense still can’t stop the rest of his team?  That’s a problem. After all, when the other team hands you the ball three times and still spanks you there are more problems than attitude alone can fix.

The biggest loss yesterday was to watch Ray Brown sitting on the sidelines with the cramps.  After 20 years in the NFL he called it quits, knowing that he could still hang with the young guys most days, but not having enough left to do it every day.  Brown is a quality guy, whose brother is the coach in Marion, AR where they both grew up.  Brown can leave the game proud of his long career, and proud of the way he conducted himself.  When Coach Gibbs looks for players with character, he needs to look for more like Brown and quit making excuses for the Sean Taylor’s of the NFL.

In the end yesterday the Redskins simply did not have anything in the tank.  Brunell tried late in the forth quarter, but couldn’t make a pass in the clutch.  When Gibbs looks at what has to be retooled for next year that is the one place he has to start.  Ramsey will most likely be gone and the kid from Auburn may not be ready.  That means ‘Skins fans will have another year of not being able to finish it off in the end.

But it gives Wilbon, Kornheiser, and the rest of us something to talk about during the winter.

More later.
