Its silly lawsuits and spankings today.
First up is the family of a dead guy trying to $10 million out of the Benihana Japanese Steak House chain. It seems that the guy hurt his neck trying to dodge a flying shrimp, and later died from surgery related complications. This is a case that should take less than 30 seconds in court. I’ve been seen lots of guys tell the Benihana chef to skip them on the shrimp toss, so why this guy didn’t do that is beyond most reasonable people.
Next on the list a real dweeb. He’s suing because other dweebs were mean to him in a chat room. I mean come on, grow the hell up and get over it. It was only electrons, and insults only hurt if they are true. This is what happens to people when they trade in real relationships for finding love in a chat room.
On to the spankings. The Maryland Senate put the smack down on Wal-Mart yesterday by overriding the Governor’s veto on a health care bill. The bill was aimed directly at the retailer and really won’t do much good for thousands of Maryland citizens that don’t have health care. Still, this is a sign that the country is getting fed up with being at the mercy of a single retailer. I’ve worked for Wal-Mart before and they really do suck as an employer. If every employee in the system dropped dead today, they would re-open tomorrow and not think twice about it.
And the other spanking comes courtesy of Charles Krauthammer over at the Post. He gives Steven Spielberg six kinds of hell over his film “Munichâ€. The way Charlie sees it is that Stevie did everything he could to make the Jews look bad and the Palestinian terrorists look good. I haven’t seen the movie, but that sounds about right for Hollywood’s logic and sense of history.
We got a second letter from THE SALIOR this week. She’s still in good spirits, which is further evidence she needs her head examined.
I’m off for the day, THE WOMAN just hopped a plane for her annual weekend of training, and the kids are at school. The quiet in the house is deafening. I like it.
More later.
