First off, an admin note. THE WOMAN caught a rare typo on this site earlier today. I remarked that I had gone for a jog with SDSM last night, when in reality it was FDSM that went running last night. My bad.
I make the correction here to 1) eat crow over the mistake and 2) because the IT Nazis at work have blocked any site with ‘blog’ in the URL. Because his IT Nazis allow the reading of blogs, but not the posting of comments to them, my pal AlaskaMike e-mailed me his comment on the earlier post.

Since I can’t reply to your blog from work, here is my reply anyway:
“Those of us that like a good cigar (or Marlboro) with our whiskey should have the right to do so in a public place. ”
The key issue here is that a bar is not a public place, it is a private place and the owner of this private property should be allowed to permit smoking if he wants to. Similarly, since it is a private place, nobody is forced to go/work there if they consider the environment to be toxic. If smoke-free establishments are really what the public wants, why aren’t there more smoke-free places out there?
Have a nice day.
AlasksMike
True enough. Just like any other business, if people didn’t want the product they would go out of business. But that makes sense and indicates that people can think for themselves. Something that a large portion of the DC population refuses to believe.
More to come later.
