This was an action packed weekend for our household, or at least the adults. The kids pretty much did nothing, and they are getting very good at doing that.
Anyway, THE WOMAN had a 5K Run/Walk fund raiser in Columbia, MD Saturday morning. Normally the good folks at Starbucks donate the coffee for her, but this time all they were willing to do was donate a five gallon container to transport the coffee. So we were up at 0300 making the java for the folks who showed up. It was about one when we got back to the house. Of course there was the normal kid drama to deal with.
Then we went on a dinner cruise for the people in my office. It was a pretty good time for a work event. Dinner was buffet style but it was really good anyway. They had singers and everything. Really cheesy, but lots of fun anyway.
On Sunday I had an actual date with THE WOMAN. We went to a little theater over by DuPont Circle and saw a production of A Streetcar Name Desire. We both really enjoyed it. The biggest problem was that it was towards the end of the run for the play and there were moments that the wear of the parts showed on the actors. Plus the lady playing Stella was way too pretty and clean for the part. At least in my mind, since I’ve always pictured Stella as being a bit white trashy since she would think that Stanley was a prize catch. And I’ve always liked the character of Stanley. He’s open, raw, and honest in every part of his life. He’s not always a nice guy, or one that you’d want as a friend, but you always would know where you stood. The guy bringing him to life was clearly center stage even when he was not on stage.
Naturally, when we got home there was more kid drama. I keep thinking we should shoot one of them, just to prove a point to the others.
And the Redskins choked again. Might it be time to try another quarterback, perhaps?
More later.
