Random NFL Thoughts
- I woke up this morning feeling good because I went 8 and 5 yesterday, bringing me to two games over .500 on the season. Then I realized it was Monday and rolled back over for another half an hour.
- When is the last time you called a kicker a hero? Try yesterday afternoon when the Eagles’ David Akers and his one good leg put it square through the uprights to close out a tough game.
- Yesterday probably made Brett Favre wonder why in the hell he came back for another year. All of heroics are not enough to lift his team out of the dreadfulness they have become.
- Eli Manning showed signs of brilliance at the end of the first half last night. Despite losing, Eli showed why the Giants wanted him so badly on draft day last year.
- The Chargers were impressive. Period.
- The Cowboys had to come from behind to beat a team that they should have owned from the kick-off.
- The Colts may finally have a defense that can win games. Now it’s time for Peyton to pull out the big plays and light up the field again.
- Chicago has one of the top five defenses in the league and Carson Palmer picked them apart yesterday. When are people going to start taking the Bengals seriously?
- The Patriots are wounded. Only proving that Michael Wilbon knew what he was saying back on September 11th when he wrote that it’s to win three Super Bowls in a row.And finally,
- Of the four teams sitting it out this week, the Lions and Texans needed the break the worst. The Texans look like a team that needs a total rebuild and the Lions are hoping to not fall apart until Jeff Garcia can take over as the starter.
