Back in the day, a grocery store was just the place that you went to buy food for the family. These days it’s a freaking emotional event to go to the grocery.
Case in point is Wegman’s, a very upscale food shopping experience. Hell, these guys even sell Micasa glassware right next to the dairy aisle. This thing sits on no less than 18 acres, and has everything except valet parking.
According to the DCist:
Hunt Valley (north of Baltimore, MD) will be the largest Wegmans to date. According to Progressive Grocer (doesn’t everybody read it?), the store will carry 700 varieties of produce, 400 cheeses, a 300-seat café and a 44-item Asian buffet.
Of course the prices are a hell of a lot higher than Piggly Wiggly, but we all know that quality has its price.
