TC the Terrible

My new Dell machine arrived about thirty minutes after THE WOMAN and I left to play golf. SDFM (SECOND DAUGHTER, FIRST MARRIAGE) was here to sign for it from the cute UPS guy. When we got back to the house after a really tough 18 holes (more on that another day) I did a couple of back flips and got it put together.

Unlike the machines of just a decade or so ago, this assembly went really smooth. Everything fit and there were no I/O conflicts. If you don’t know what I mean, go ask your dad and be greatful we no longer have to fight those issues.

I’m now doing the hard part of transferring files from the old machine and getting all my settings re-configured. This may take a few days as THE WOMAN booked us a night at a B&B in Baltimore. The Inner Harbor is great, and we’ll have a chance to ruin a golf course in another state. It should be a good time for all.

While my buddies CZ and AlaskaMike continue to pull me towards the good side of the force (i.e. Apple) I’ve bought another Dell machine. It’s clearly a part of the Dark Side since it comes in a black box. But it is also far cheaper than the comparable Apple machine and my resources are going to be thin until we get at least one of the kids out of the house. But I digress, the point of this post is that according to the UPS tracking site my machine is out for delivery today.

My last Dell machine has lasted over five years. If the new one lasts half as long it will be money well spent. BTW, this machine is twice as powerful and cost 1/4 of what my last one did.
