Like the geek boy that I am, I caught the midnight showing of Revenge of the Sith last night. It was after 0330 before I crawled into bed and the alarm clock went off at 0510. (As a side note, THE WOMAN refers to my alarm clock as the ‘death toll’. She has no idea that she’s mis-paraphrased both Hemingway and John Donne with that reference. But the sucker really is loud.) Needless to say today is going to be painful. Maybe I’ll get to crash at lunch.
As for the movie, it was damned awesome. Lucas should really hire someone else to write the dialog for all of his emotional scenes. That part of his movies tends to suck each and every time. He does really kick ass fight scenes and should stick to that. The final battle between Darth and Obi-Wan was way cool. Seeing the medical robots putting the black mask over Darth’s burnt-to-a-crisp face for the first time was worth the price of the ticket.
I took THE BOY with me and he enjoyed every minute of it. He stayed awake for the entire show and most of the trip home. He does me proud. My buddy Chunae from the office met us there. THE BOY thought it was too cool that he got to meet some one that I work with. THE BOY now thinks he’s one of the big guys.
THE SECOND DAUGHTER, SECOND MARRIAGE (SDSM) cried herself to sleep because she couldn’t go on a guy’s night out. I sense we have a problem brewing here. I am ill equipped to handle this level of crisis.
Life has been smooth this week. The only thing that I can tie it to is THE SECOND DAUGHTER, FIRST MARRIAGE (SDFM) has been in Memphis since last Saturday. I hate to say it that way, but I’ve long acknowledged that the stress factor has gone way up after the arrival of SDFM back in January. We’ll have to see how things go next week.
Speaking of next week, we are taking a road trip down to Ft. Story. The web site goes into detail about the training that is conducted there, but there’s more to the story as it were. The real deal is it is one of those places that the Army never talks about because it is primarily a resort. We had to book our time there almost a year ago, and could only get a single room with two beds. Cozy. The three and four stars can get on there pretty easy, and that is where many of them from around here go for vacations.
Well, back to the grind. Only seven hours left. I hope I have enough coffee to get me through.
